Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development observed that the frequent use of ChatGPT in our daily lives affects our vocabulary and word choice.
After conducting research on more than 280,000 academic videos on YouTube , they found that since ChatGPT became popular, people have begun using certain words more frequently, as they appear frequently in AI-generated texts.
The research showed that users pick up on AI’s speech patterns without realizing it, such as using words like “precise,” “skillful,” or “in-depth” in their everyday conversations.
The report noted that ChatGPT’s style is ubiquitous, so you might be using AI words without even realizing it.
Interestingly, these AI-inspired words aren’t just popping up here and there, but are actually replacing the more vibrant, local, and sometimes bizarre language we’ve all grown up with.
Whereas before we heard emotional, meandering arguments, now we get neat, structured sentences, and it feels as if everyone is reading from the same AI-approved dictionary, and the little nuances of our speech are quietly fading away.
The report attributed this to the significant development of artificial intelligence tools that have made us more like ourselves, and now we are starting to resemble it more, and this is the reason for this phenomenon.
